According to legend, an extremely potent version of this spell was first cast by the goddess Jhuntara in her struggle against a dark entity that threatened to consume her life force. By focusing her holy fury into a bright bolt of energy, she was able to destroy the entity before it could consume the last of her powers.
In order to cast this spell, the caster must be of non-evil alignment, and the target must be evil or undead.
When the spell is cast, a bolt of holy energy flies from the outstretched hand of the cleric, and travels unerringly to its intended target. Upon impact, the bolt explodes in a brilliant white light, dealing damage to all evil and undead creatures within a 20' radius, and blinding them for 1 round. Creatures that are vulnerable to bright light may also be affected, at the DM's option.
The creature directly struck by the bolt suffers 1d6 Holy damage per caster level, and must attempt their save with a -1 penalty for every 4 caster levels, or suffer the effects listed below.
All other affected creatures suffer 1d8 damage points of damage per 2 caster levels, and are blinded for 1 round. Those that succeed on a Will save (Save vs. Spell in 2nd Ed) avoid being blinded, and take only half damage.
If the targeted creature fails its save, it is blinded for 2d4 rounds.
if it fails by 4 or more, it is also stunned for 1d4 rounds.
If it fails by 8 or more, the creature is knocked unconscious for 2d4 rounds,
And must make a Fort save (Save vs. Death in 2nd Ed) or be destroyed.
The material component for this spell is the priest's holy symbol, which is not expended.
The spell is available to all priests of Jhuntara and Auriana. It may be granted to priests of other good-aligned faiths, at the DM's discretion.
